We are thrilled to welcome our new, in-house stylist, Lori Bzura!

Lori recently launched COAST WARDROBE STYLING, a personal styling and consulting business. Lori has earned a reputation for having a keen eye for fashion, and has built a roster of clients eager for her personal attention and styling prowess.

Lori started her career in publicity at HBO in Los Angeles and then moved to New York in 1995, to work in production at HBO Original Programming. Lori made her entry into the world of fashion while working as a production coordinator on Sex and the City.

An Occasion to Celebrate

Hosting a 4th of July party is a great way to kick off the summer. Here are some tips to help you be the hostess with the mostess:

1. Dress the Part
Don’t get lost in the mix at your own party. Find a casual yet chic outfit that lets everyone know that you are the hostess. Remember, all eyes will be on you!

[Cruise Imports, $115, Available at Fred Segal Hats]

[Missoni, Isotta Dress, $1,555, Available at Fred Segal Couture]

2.  Be a Kitchen Goddess
Wow your guests with homemade dishes that are made from fresh, seasonal ingredients. Add a sweet touch with desserts such as summer shortcake, red, white and blue parfaits, and vanilla raspberry sundaes.

3. Friendly Help
Enlist a friend to be your sous chef! That way you can enjoy yourself and groove to some tunes while prepping for the big day!

4. Step up the Set up
Save 15-30 minutes by setting up the night before. Make sure to find festive table settings. I love this stars and stripes scheme from Williams-Sonoma!

5. Create a Signature Cocktail
Kick off the all-American fireworks celebration with this rocket pop cocktail! Create a mocktail for the kids by substituting the alcohol with lemonade or club soda.

Cheers to another fabulous soiree! Happy 4th of July!

The Way To A Man’s Heart…

June 13th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Is through his stomach.

This fact was well ingrained into me from birth. Yes, he will have bacon, eggs, and pancakes. And yes, he will have seconds. The first man I loved, and will always love, is my father. In honor of Father’s Day, I compiled a list of chow-down spots that will make your dad, and mine, giddy. Here’s to all you fathers, husbands, and sons!

1. For the Brunch Fanatic:

BLD
7450 Beverly Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90036
(323) 930-9744

* My favorite thing to get here are the blueberry ricotta pancakes. So good, they were featured on Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” show.

2. For the Savory & Sweet Lover

Huckleberry
1014 Wilshire Blvd
Santa Monica, CA 90401
(310) 451-2311

I have three words for you: Maple. Bacon. Biscuit. I promise the only regret you’ll have is not ordering two.

3. For the Burger & Beer Guy

Father’s Office
1018 Montana Avenue
Santa Monica, CA 90403
(310) 736-2224

“…nationally acclaimed Los Angeles Gastropub and home of the much touted “Office Burger”. Our focus is craft beer and its pairing with food. We feature a seasonally rotating selection of 36 craft beers on tap along with esoteric small producer wines and micro distilled spirits…”

Let me start off by saying, this place is a local institution. I’d feel wrong if I left without loosening my belt buckle. Ladies, take your man here for some bonding over sports, tap beer, and a “get-your-hands-dirty” burger. It will be worth your while. And he’ll probably be so happy that he’ll take you shopping afterwards.

4. For the Soul Food Lovin Man

Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles
5006 W Pico Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90019
(323) 934-4405

When I think of “man food”, I think of stick to your ribs, southern food. Their famous fried chicken and waffles draw in Angelenos by the masses each day. No shocker.

Look at the crisp on that waffle! Nobody likes a soggy waffle. Roscoe’s does it right.

5. For the Breakfast In Bed Man

1234 Your Home
City, State, Zip Code

They won’t admit it, but they like to be pampered too. And their favorite spot? The couch. Cook them breakfast at home and then spend the day together. Life is about the simple pleasures, and it doesn’t get any simpler than this.

Happy Father’s Day!
